Rhodes - Daytrip to nearby islands

While visiting the majestic island of Rhodes, why not take a daytrip to its nearby islands? Rhodes’ proximity to other Greek island attractions makes daily excursions to other islands by boat extremely tempting. Quite close to Rhodes are the islands of Kastellorizo, Symi, Halki and Tilos and are perfect for daytrips!

  • Symi

Located in the Southern Dodecanese, north of Rhodes and close to the coast of south-west Turkey, Symi is a well known holiday destination and one of the leading day-trip destinations from Rhodes. It is a scenic traditional village with shipbuilding and sponge diving history and unique architecture. When you first come across its port, its beauty will leave you breathless!

  • Halki

Just 6 km to the west of Rhodes, lays the island of Halki. It is the smallest of the Dodecanese islands and is a quite island, where visitors can relax and escape from the stresses of everyday life. It is well known for its rocky sceneries, blue-green waters and a former sponge fishing industry. A perfect destination for peace and privacy! For those that want to lose themselves in a tranquil paradise, Alimia, an uninhabited island with beautiful beaches, is a choice idyll. In Halki there are boats that can take you to the island of Alimia within just five minutes where you shall feel that the world belongs to you!

  • Tilos

Tilos is a tiny island of Dodecanese and is located to the north west of Rhodes. It is an alternative destination with secluded beaches, small villages and very little tourism. You will get the chance to relax and swim to its crystal clear waters surrounded by imposing mountains, rocky and steep coasts and caves.

  • Kastellorizo

Kastellorizo, or also known as Megisti, is located at the south easternmost edge of Greece. Not as close to Rhodes as Symi, Halki or Tilos yet it is a calm and beautiful island, despite its long and stormy history, with mountainous and rocky landscapes. Stunning rough scenery, ancient monuments, magnificent neo-classical houses, kind people, peaceful holidays and relaxation await you.

Of course you can always take a day holiday in Rhodes by boat. There is a wide range of supply in such tours, which are truly a unique experience. For example, why not sail to get from Mandraki of Rhodes to Lindos and enjoy a swim at different beaches until you reach your destination. It is most certainly a possibility worth exploring!
