Diachronic Museum of Megisti-Kastellorizo

It is located in the suburb of the castle. The rooms are organized in chronological order. The first one is dedicated to ancient Megisti with important findings. In the second one you will see objects from the early-Christian years to the end of the Byzantine period. In the first one there are vessels, inscriptions, designs and photos of monuments and in the second one there are dresses and household items of a typical 19th century house.

The “Konaki”, as they call the building where the museum is housed, has been characterized as a historic preservable monument. During the Frankish rule the ground floor of the building constituted the outer bastion of the castle. The Neoclassic elements of the outer door and the narrow and long windows of the façade date back to the late 18th century.
