It was created as a museum of maritime art in 1983 and in 1990 it was housed in a marvelous neoclassic building where the central shipyard of Symi was found.

Archaeological-Folklore museum

  The archaeological collection is housed in a traditional mansion of the Gianneski family in which neoclassic elements were added in 1875. It is a donation of the Farmakidi brothers to the Greek state. It includes an archaeological findings collection of Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods, a Byzantine collection, a folklore collection. You will see the representation of a typical Symiot house and local costumes.   Info Tel.: +30 22460 71114).  
In the center of the monastery complex of Panormitis you will see the Byzantine museum where the toy boats and the bottles-votive offerings stand out which the believers left at the sea in order for them to travel by themselves towards the monastery.
