The trails of the island create an excellent network of routes which extend over about 200km. They are stone-paved, or dirt roads, they connect the settlements with each other or serve the cattle breeders and the farmers, and they are used throughout the year. By walking, except for the nature of the island you will admire the manmade works as well, such as the monasteries and the churches or the country churches, wells, fountains, dovecotes, towers-fryktories, old mines, threshing floors, and the renowned stone walls. -Magnificent routes are the ones connecting the seven basic settlements of the island –Apollonia, Ai Loukas, Ano Petali, Kato Petali, Katavati, Exambela.

Artemonas –Agios Sostis (1 hour and 15 minutes)

You will begin from Artemonas towards Panagia of Magana, you willl cross the road leading to Cherronisos, you will go across Agios Minas and you will follow an impressive ancient trail. It is paved with stairs and it has nuggets from ore, as in the area there were ancient gold mines as well as the iron mines of the 19th century. You will end up at the church of Agios Sostis from where you will enjoy a view over the islands across –Syros, Paros and Antiparos.

Apollonia – Profitis Ilias (1 hour and 30 minutes)

This old trail begins from Fyrogia (it is sign-posted). It is constantly uphill, with lots of stairs and a few shadowy points in the route. Upon arriving you will be impressed by the scenery with the vertical rocks and you will enjoy a view up to Peloponnese and Ikaria.
