General Information

Antiparos covers an area of 35 km2 and its coastline stretches 57 km in length. It is located northwest of Paros with the islets of Despotico and Strongyli on its southwest. Natural beauty is combined with the archaeological findings on all of these islands.

The relief of Antiparos is wide-ranging with the peak of Profitis Ilias at 308m above sea level being the highest one.

It is mainly covered with shale rocks originating from the Attica-Cyclades mass. Volcanic stone layers from the Plio-Pleistocene period seem to have penetrated the transformed rocks.

The west coasts of the island are flat and sandy, while the ones at the east are rocky and form small bays. The landscape is typically Cycladic.

Small quantities of ores were mined in the past. Nowadays the mines are no longer in operation.
